Kentucky Derby Day — 7 May, Saturday, 2016 — Ladies, Wear Your Hats!

It is believed that wearing a hat during the Kentucky Derby brings good luck to your horse or jockey and to your bets. From the fantastic to the sublime, there are no rules or limits regarding what you wear. In the clubhouse and paddock and at Gauthier Vineyard, women of grace and style will be sporting classy, fashionable styles or whimsical creations during Derby Day activities.

Generally speaking, women wear wide-brimmed, “Southern Belle” inspired Kentucky Derby hats. The hats can be decorated simply or with extravagant collections of flowers, feathers, bows and ribbons to express creativity and individuality.

Gauthier Vineyard looks forward to hosting all ladies and their Derby hats – and their gentlemen companions – on Saturday, 7 May. We’ll view the race on the large flat screen, cheer on our favorite three-year-old fillies and colts . . . . and award a free bottle of wine to one lucky hat-wearing female patron!

Looking forward to seeing everyone for Kentucky Derby day activities at the winery!

PS- Our adorable sister-in-law, Mary Ann, has already made her hat and shipped it down to Virginia from Massachusetts . . . . OMG, it’s awesome. I’m gunna have to add a few more flowers to mine to keep up with her!
