Gauthier Vineyard: Old World Inspiration, Virginia Expression
Rooted in New Kent and reaching into the Shenandoah Valley, Gauthier Vineyard crafts wines of elegance and balance by blending Old World traditions with Virginia’s diverse terroir. Since 2010, we have sourced premium fruit from a specific Shenandoah Valley site—chosen for its limestone soils, elevation, and ideal climate—while also cultivating our estate-grown Norton, Virginia’s native grape, on our family-owned farm in Eastern Virginia. With each vintage, we offer a refined taste of the Shenandoah Valley—elevated by meticulous winemaking and a deep commitment to quality from vine to glass.
About Our Winemaker: Matthew Meyer
Matthew Meyer brings more than 25 years of award-winning winemaking experience to Gauthier Vineyard. A graduate of UC Davis, one of the world’s top viticulture and enology programs, Matthew honed his craft internationally and across the U.S. before becoming head winemaker at Williamsburg Winery, where he led the production of more than 100 wines that won Gold or Double Gold medals under his tenure.
Today, Matthew continues to shape Gauthier Vineyard’s winemaking program with a focus on balance, elegance, and terroir expression. Working closely with fruit from both our Shenandoah Valley vineyard sources and our estate-grown Norton, Matthew draws inspiration from Old World styles while embracing the unique qualities of Virginia’s climate and soils. His commitment to excellence and depth of experience are evident in every bottle we produce.
