What is a “Vertical tasting?” This is a wine tasting adventure permitting wine lovers to experience the effect of different wine growing seasons upon a single varietal. Gauthier Vineyard’s first harvest was 2011, and we have retained very limited quantities of our wines from succeeding harvests.
In 2023 we opened our Loyalty Rewards Program (LRP) for membership. The details of the LRP can be found at https://gauthiervineyard.com/news/gauthier-vineyard-case-club/ We have made the Vertical Tastings as one of the LRP “Perks”, and LRP members will be reimbursed for the Vertical Tasting purchases upon arrival. Vertical Tasting purchases are locked to the dates, and they cannot be re-scheduled after purchase.
Our 2024 Vertical Tastings will be held twice per month on the dates provided below. Based upon a few “Practice” Vertical Tastings offered in2023, we have learned that these tastings work best when they are four 2 oz pours of a single red varietal covering four harvests. Ten is the maximum number of participants to permit the great discussions that accompany these events. We will provide palate cleansing snacks between each pour.
Upon arrival, the guests will be informed of the number of bottles of each varietal available for purchase. Some of these wines will be up to twelve years old and all are the last of their vintage. The prices will be very reasonable.
The 2024 Vertical Tastings are available at $20 per person. They begin at 1:00 PM and are expected to take two hours to complete. The dates are shown below:
